On the evening of may.4th Layton received notification that he did in fact qualify for districts. He had been feeling a little burned out and discouraged and had mentally already checked out from track and participating at districts. He wanted to focus on training for cross country now. But he and I had a really good talk and he ended up deciding that he did want to run and to not give up the chance to compete and have the opportunity to run. I am so glad that I took the time to really talk through all of his ups and downs and feelings and then encourage him to do the hard/good/best thing.
He got a PR in both the mile and the 2 mile ending the season with a 4:53 mile and a 10:41 2 mile time. I am so proud of him.
